The arrangement of the constellations in the sky is but one of the many expressions of the ordering will, with which man builds his knowledge of the world and by which he organizes the practices of its domination. The celestial vault is therefore populated by mythological characters and objects, which articulate in catalogues and naming by means of a progressive process of abstraction, starting from the physical parameters of celestial bodies such as position, type, luminosity, distance from the Earth and spectral class.
The video projection shows a portion of the celestial vault, that is dominated by the Perseus constellation and is involved in a process according which the stars, initially presented as in an ordinary map of the sky, are progressively trapped by an imaginary web up to the point of being wrapped in a luminous cocoon of energy. The meteor shower of Perseids, which usually appears in the sky around the 10th of August, cyclically appears and unravels the stars in an explosion of light and finally let them start again a new cycle of order and disorder.
The audio stream is realized by the sonification of the 20 most visible stars whitin Perseus constellation, according which position and luminosity are translated in sound as a sort of a sounding planetary. Again, the rational order of cosmos will be interrupted by electromagnetic showers, as a testimony of the fierce disorder of universe as it is detected by radiotelescopes. And this disorder is hidden to our eyes behind the ordered beauty of the starry sky, a beauty in which the humans never cease to seek their own reflected image.
