A poetic landscape video composed in the round by the wind, rain, and trees. WHIRLIGIG demonstrates nature's force upon manmade objects and the artist's intent to preserve the subtle nuances of that force. Captured during a passing storm at the Ox-Bow School of Art in Michigan where I studied Landscape film/video with veteran filmmaker James Benning and prolific art historian Bruce Jenkins. Made with a GoPro Hero3 fitted with a tin-can air foil modeled after those found in the movie Twister and then suspended from a tree branch and left to record a rainstorm.
