Dr. Don G. Pickney says, "Many Christians are uneducated regarding the nature of God's 'exceeding great and precious' promises." The phrase in the Apostle Peter's statement of 2Peter 1:4 is in the Greek, "megistos timios." Translating these two words into modern English, we would say, "mega rare and valuable." The word, megistos denotes "the greatest to is ultimate extreme," thus the KJV renders it "exceeding great." God's promises are a reflection of Himself.
In this teaching, Pastor Don insists that our hearts have to be enlarged in order for God to take us to the level that he desires for us. Without Him giving us "largeness of heart," our hearts simply do not expand enough to make room for and receive all that He has to give us.
This teaching reminds us that God is not about us "doing for Him," He desires to do for us, but only if we will come to Him with the vision of His desire and willingness to do so. Hebrews 11:6 says, "He that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." Our seeking God is necessary for Him to prepare our hearts to receive His "exceeding great and precious" promises.
Again this week, Pastor Don shows us the nature of phenomenon of Solomon's wisdom, wealth and honor. In Psalms 72, King David prayed a prayer. As he prayed, as often was the case with David, his prayer became predominately prophetic. His prayer regarding His son Solomon prophetically became like a cloud of anointing that was designed through David's words to fall on Solomon the moment He stepped into His authority as King. Immediately, God appeared to him in a dream, and while he was sleeping, God administered the anointing for all that David had prophetically prayed.
In the dream, God asked Solomon what he wished from Him. In the dream, Solomon responded, asking for wisdom and judgment to rule well God's people. As the dream continued, God told Solomon that He would make Solomon famous for His wisdom, and He would give Him riches, honor, and if he would serve Him well, He would also give him long life. What was in the dream never really occurred in real life, like every other dream, it was just a dream. But God used the dream to impart all of the fulfillment of the words of David's prayer for Solomon.
When Solomon awoke, His dream came true! He immediately took his throne and was confronted with a need to judge between two women concerning a dispute over a child. Both women claimed it belonged to them. He was at that moment given the ability for wisdom beyond what anyone had seen. His fame spread throughout the land of Israel and that whole region of the world.
His life began manifesting a reflection of "megistos timios," the fulfillment of God's exceeding great and precious promises to him.
Pastor Don, encourages us, as believers, to open our hearts for God to enlarge us to receive His promise of an end-time event for the Church. In this event He has promised through the Messianic Prophet, Isaiah, Isa 60:1-5 "ARISE from depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you--RISE to a new life! SHINE (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you! (2) For YOU WILL LOOK AND YOU WILL SEE darkness covering the earth, and dense darkness everywhere like a lowering cloud upon an entire generation. But the Lord shall arise upon you, and His glory shall be seen on you. (3) The whole world will come to your light, they will see God's dream coming to pass in you, even world leaders will take note of the brightness of your rising to an astounding level of ability in life. (5) Then your countenance will become radiant, and you will become cheerful and filled with glee, and your heart will thrill and tremble with joy at your glorious state of life, yes your heart will be enlarged with an increased capacity for God's divine blessings to come upon you; because the rich sea trade and the wealth of nations will come to you. (11) You will be required to maintain your doors open day and night, they will never be shut again, working 24/7 to receive the riches, wealth, goods, substance, means, men and other resources of world, and kings will seek you out to personally witness all that has come to you."
Mind blowing isn't it? Isaiah is also joined in a chorus with other prophets, all proclaiming this same event for the Church, for believers who will open their hearts to receive this event called in scripture, the Day of Jehovah Tsaba (Lord of hosts) in which God has prophetically planned a "prosperity phenomenon" for His people.
