Titanium is a great tool for developing native apps: using JavaScript and a very rich high level API we can quickly iterate towards a viable solution in weeks, instead of months and the available UI components are able to satisfy most of the needs a developer may have. However, there are few cases, where the stock components are not totally satisfying from a UX perspective. In such scenarios where we want a greater control over the performance of our views we can re-create them through highly specialised native modules.

In this talk Olivier will present some lessons learned in improving the performance of existing Ti apps through the creation of native views in iOS and Android. He'll show how to create ViewProxies and how they fit inside of your app, how to integrate third party native libraries, and present some considerations on API design when we need to find where to draw a line between JS and native code.
