After Zuwana Morris's wife died, he was diagnosed with diabetes. As a single father with six children battling an crippling illness, he struggled to provide even one meal a day or school fees. The insulin he must take every day for his diabetes costs everything he has, but he can't live without it. UNICEF's Social Cash Transfer Program supports men like Zuwana who have a disability preventing them from providing for their family. With the bi-monthly stipend he receives from the Social Cash Transfer Program he is able to continue living as a diabetic person who can afford to buy his medication, provide daily meals for his boys, and pay for them to go to school.
In the words of Toma Johnson (National Program Coordinator at the Ministry of Gender and Social Welfare), "The amount is not big, but it has a great impact on peoples lives."
