Ray Franks joined the army when he was 28 years old to escape the tension his return to home had caused. He had been a classical flute major, so he played in army bands for about five years. When he left the military, he gravitated towards Denton, Texas due to the caliber of the music schools—especially regarding jazz piano.
After several thought-provoking encounters with God-fearing Christians, he decided to visit Denton Bible Church on Father's Day, June 17th, 2001 where he heard Tom Nelson give a clear, simple presentation of the Gospel. Since that day, Mr. Franks has been discipled well at Denton Bible and has also served by leading worship for several years at Grace Bible Church in Sanger.
As soon as he can raise enough support, he will be joining James Arnold and many others in Niece, France to help with music outreach. He also plans to disciple some young men and attend language school.
