A test drive of the Panasonic GH4.
This is not a scientific test. I wanted to take the GH4 out and use it in real world situations. I wanted to try to achieve a finished look that I would like, and make a fun piece at the same time.
A mix of Cinema 4k footage and 96 fps 1080p.
I shot with a variant of James Miller's picture profile settings:
Noise Reduction -5
Master Pedestal +15
I played with iDynamic and iResolution in some shots, but ultimately decided to leave them off.
I found that Cinelike D was a little weird looking at times. Kinda plasticky or something. Hard to define. But I was able to grade it nicely. Cinelike V looked more natural to my eyes, and with these settings, has plenty of latitude for grading.
I love this camera. Great color, resolution, and flexibility in post. I can see what people are saying about not being able to go back to HD once you have a 4k image to play with... Especially since the file sizes are so small.
Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 lens with the Metabones Speedbooster
