Kites have a long history in the Middle East. They are symbols of resilience, hope, determination and childhood. Most of all they symbolise a child’s relentless enthusiasm for play. Children in Zaatari make kites from whatever scraps of plastic, rubbish and sticks they manage to find. To help them fly kites in style, they were provided with materials to make and personalise their own kites. This project implemented by aptART in partnership with ACTED with the support of UNICEF, European Commission - Humanitarian Aid & Civil Protection (ECHO) and Montana Cans.
