Prof. Hideo Hosono, a leading Japanese scientist, talks about impression-inspred materials research at the 15th anniversary symposium of Science and Technology of Advanced Materials (http://iopscience.iop.org/1468-6996/page/15th-anniversary) on July 3, 2014 at the University of Tokyo.
Prof. Hosono contributed to the discovery of iron-based superconductors in 2008 and to the pioneering research in transparent oxide semiconductors. He proposed materials design
concepts for transparent p-type materials and transparent morphous oxide semiconductors with high electron mobility. In 2012 this research led to the mass production of high-resolution and energy-saving displays for use in smartphones, tablet PCs and large OLED TVs. His discovery of superconductivity in LaFeAsO1-xFx was chosen as a breakthrough of the year 2008 by the Science Magazine, and the report of this discovery was the most cited paper in 2008.
