In 1996, on our shared birthday of July 30th, friend (and then next door neighbor) Mark Poutenis and I went sky diving as a present to ourselves. We took the all day, 8 hour crash course at Pepperell in Massachusetts so that we could have the full experience of an untethered jump from 13,500 ft, offering a minute of free fall before having to open the chute. This also meant we could each jump without having to be merely a passenger strapped to the belly of an experienced diver, and just along for the ride. We both got to jump solo, but with experienced guides along side in case of any trouble, and we both also opted to pay the extra $$$ to have our experience video taped for posterity. This video is also a first test of my new Elgato Video Capture, used to covert my 18 year old VHS video tape into an mp4 file that could uploaded here.
