As night fell on Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 August 2014, the entire Western and Southern facades of the Scottish National Gallery were taken over by Nalini Malani's distinctive video and shadow play In Search of Vanished Blood. The work is an extended exploration of conflict and a world of ongoing war, and its presentation in Edinburgh was timed to coincide with LIGHTS OUT, the commemoration of the centenary of the UK's entry into the First World War. This presentation of In Search of Vanished Blood was co-commissioned by Edinburgh Art Festival and 14-18 NOW, WW1 Centenary Commissions, supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund.
