Controlling an excessive amount of lateral and/or rotational displacement of the ankles, knees & hips is as sports specific as you can get. Forward broad jump w/ a 90o rotational squat catch 6-8x. Put about 50-75% into these and feel how inertia wants to continue moving down the lane as you have already made a conscious decision to stop. Once the athletes can feel that, then they are in prime learning position to develop the musculature and patterning of driving the hips back to control it. Developing this into an autonomic, unconscious pattern will help to prevent injuries and lends to quicker changes of direction.
