This session focused on the topic of violence against women as a human rights violation. In an informal conversation, the two speakers focused on the case of Jessica Lenahan (Gonzales) and her struggle for justice following the Castle Rock, Colorado police department's failure to enforce a restraining order against her husband, resulting in the deaths of her three daughters. Jessica Lenahan's case was decided by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and has been a catalyst for renewed dialogue and policy reform around domestic violence.
