A visual essay about the wilderness and its (in)dispensability
For the most of Czech people, the word “wilderness” evokes a tropical rainforest, African savannah and nature threatened by „irresponsibility” of native people. Even though we should not have forgotten, that exactly we, Europeans, were among the first who had got rid of our supposed “ animal rivals”. Although the ancient wildlife had irretrievably disappeared, there are still few people who are not reconciled about that. But are we able to live again together with wolfs, bears or wisents? The documentary movie Wild Works explores how Czech society perceives the wilderness as a cultural phenomenon and introduce people who dedicated their life to protection of once eradicated animals.
