This film was built around an artwork; the context in which it was conceived and installed rather than on its creators. The origin of the project was the horizon: the desire to break the separation between earth and sky and contribute to the drawing of the night that occurs at dawn on the hill tops. There was also the ambition to create something bigger than us, this desire to go beyond ourselves in an unknown territory. This unknown territory was the top of an abandoned quarry overlooking the city of Aix-en-Provence: a central pedestal between the montagne St Victoire and several other landmarks (Pilon du Roi, Aqueduc de Roquefavour). The project developed around a site an ambition and logistical restraints.
Part I is the genesis of the Gratte-Ciel (Skyscraper). We are currently filming the dissolution of the artwork into the natural environment in which it is.
