The Student Producers, a committee of ten high school students, are an integral part of the Chamber Music Society’s program and mission. The Student Producers design and produce a series of four “Unconventional Concerts” featuring professional artists of every musical style and genre in hopes of generating an interest in chamber music among teenagers. The concerts are open exclusively to high school students, both musicians and newcomers alike. Sorry, no adults!
Featuring anything from Western classical music to exotic world music to world premieres, the Student Producer’s hour-long concerts are never typical and always a huge success. Some of our past concerts have featured world-renowned artists such as cellist Matt Haimovitz, Imani Winds, and the Pacifica Quartet.
The Student Producers hold meetings at the CMS offices every Thursday afternoon. Working closely with the Marketing, Administrative, Education, and PR departments of CMS, they learn the tools needed to run a successful organization: innovative programming, creative advertising campaigns, stirring press releases, ticket sale strategies, artist and contract management, and fund raising. Each season, the Student Producers harness these skills to create unforgettable, unexpected, unconventional concerts.
