The term “bottled emotion” alludes to idea that there is certain amount of affect or sentiment that manifests within us which is left hidden, or rather unseen.
Glass as a medium has the ability to form, structure and skin. I wish capture and encapsulate this undocumented affectivity translating it into a visual record of emotion.
To determine the shape of said emotion(s): I have used the glass as a tool for measurement. By excessive rubbing I wish create a physical embodiment of
said emotion(s). Similar to the way that one would use a worry stone. Emphasis will placed upon time and erosion and how it affects the form.
*The first incarnation of this project was entitled “Love Letter to my Ex.”, 2008, In which I read the words to a letter written by myself through a breathing apparatus attached to a blow pipe, while listening to a familiar song for emotional stimulus.
