Brigadier General Al Aycock, Deputy Commanding General of the U.S. Army Installation Management Command, speaks at the Sustainability Interim Program at Fort Bragg, N.C., on January, 15 2010. BG Aycock previously served as the Garrison Commander of Fort Bragg, during which time the post earned Army Community of Excellence honors twice. BG Aycock epitomizes experiential learning in the sustainability field, and discusses here the tactics and techniques that have been most effective over the course of his career. While not formally trained in sustainability, BG Aycock has seen first-hand the positive impacts to an installation's natural, social, and financial health from the implementation of a robust sustainability program. He highlights the importance of communication, the role of competition, and the future need for sustainable thought and action during this session.
