This video was presented by me during Smart Geometry 2010 Conference in Barcelona, in 'Shop Talk : Make Do' discussion panel, moderated by Makai Smith. It demonstrates simple and more advanced computational generative techniques, that somewhat are related to idea of 'sketching' with algorithms.
First three videos show the code that can be contained on one screen (shown after third effect), thus simple and easy to understand :-)
Next effects demonstrate various ways of visualising behaviour of live, generative systems through use of colours, little boxy markers, text tags etc.
Part three focuses on systemic failures, crashes and miscalculations of forces. In my view, this is an essential study of every self organizing agent based, or particle spring system, because it allows to gain much more understanding about the way it behaves.
All programs have been coded in Processing.
