we stumbled along each other, party like no other and compromised who was doing the proposing and who was walking down the isle with their dad.
I did the proposing but plans changed along the way after life starting throwing several curve balls our way. our dream ceremony and crazy reception party switched to setting the date 4 days prior to run down to city hall to exchange vows.
My wife refused to accept our circumstances and wanted to get the ceremony between us..... hoping there would be our dream wedding down the road. By relationship nature I felt we should let our parents know.
Best decision I've ever made behind her back. Her father was so honored to be invited and receive the invite via phone call not text this time. He was the first to be ready and prepared for our big day. One of the 4 guests attending our ceremony he stood so proud watching his only daughter marrying the other "pea to the pod" (his nick name for us)
A few months into being newly weds my father in law unexpectedly passed.
As we try to wrap our heads and cope with the life altering circumstances of his death, I'm the one standing so proud to be married to the girl he raised..... We miss him dearly and are so fortunate to have plans changed along the way.
