This was the very first "test film" that Gods Monkey shot on super8mm. This is the 2nd experimental "paint" version of the original, unedited raw, pure and beautiful cine film. Shot on the mighty Canon 514 XLS using Kodak 200T film stock...I love this stock, it's awesome film.

Basically Gray & I left work early, walked out of the building & started shooting...we'd agreed that i would follow him & put the camera through it's paces...

...this was the first time I'd seen Gray in action, & he turned what would have been an otherwise bog standard test shoot into a beautiful film in it's own right...actually my Nanna loves this film & it cracks her up at the end...but I won't spoil it for you ;)

This version is silent, originally i made it with loads of random audio effects I liked but, I've had to upload the silent version as I mixed a couple of really awesome, random tracks into it & sadly I lost the working files when one of my hard drives went bang...i back up the back ups then back them up too now-a-days!

There are 3 versions of this film uploaded here. 2 versions (again silent at the moment) have been altered frame by frame...basically I deconstructed the entire film into single frames then applied effects to each frame in photoshop & put the film back together...so they're un-cut but heavily altered...this was the 2nd experimental piece. I went in a different direction with this one, again applying the same technique, but this time utilising different photoshop effects...it's much more than just paint on canvas...but i'm sure all the other hardcore photoshop junkies will spot the effects a mile off...all good, enjoy :)

...I wanted to experiment for a future project...it was meant to be for my straight8 2010 entry but i've had to miss out on this years competition due to other film commitments...a worthwhile experiment though...i'm actually always dipping back into this footage to try new effects on as i've already got every single frame saved & stored...my latest version though is going to remain a secret until it's finished.

I hope you enjoy this & the other two versions. It's well worth stopping the film and looking at individual frames, especially some of the closer shots on all three versions...it'll give you a much better idea of what i was trying to achieve...alas I can't go into too much detail on where this experiment is heading as i don't want to spoil the final film.

...one last thing, a few people have commented to me that i must have been mad to take it apart into individual frames & photoshop them...I did try every other way of achieving the effect I was after before going this way...& yes it took ages...but on the plus side i just plugged my iPod in & caught up on a lot of music...all good...

...hope you enjoy this as much as my Nanna ;)
