August 23-25, 2014

The long weekend was spent alternating food and sleep in the summer capital with my clingy family. I don’t think I’ve seen that many people or worse traffic in the streets of Baguio before. Apparently everyone decided to drive up for the long weekend causing a citywide shortage of ube and strawberries! I kid you not. Thankfully there was still ube cake from Tea House (surprisingly delicious), strawberry taho at Burnham park, and Vizco’s famous strawberry shortcake to help ease the pain. ☺

The highlight of our trip (aside from the food hehe) has to be the night market at Harrison Road. My first time there! Weird ‘coz I usually don’t leave Baguio without any ukay-ukay loot. Ang layo narating ng 200 pesos ko!

There’s just something about Baguio that casts a laziness spell on its tourists. More than the laidback vibe and the yummy delicacies (*reaching for a jar of Alfajor while typing*), I shall miss the cool Baguio breeze most of all. If only I could bottle it up and bring it home with me here in stuffy Manila.

Do not eat at Bistro by Hillstation. Lackluster food, poor service. It’s a shame since the eponymous Hillstation restaurant is in every Baguio must-try list. I hope they step up their game soon.
