In this final of this series, Dr. Don G. Pickney speaks of the greatness of God's divine glorious presence in Heaven, but reminds us that His "shekinah" glory does not yet "fill the earth," although God proclaimed in Numbers 14:21 "But as surely as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of Jehovah!"
Yet, Jesus recognized to His disciples that the earth was still a very dark place. John 8:12 "Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, I am the light of the world. If you follow Me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life." John 9:5 "But while I am here in the world, I am the light of the world." 1John 5:19 "And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in wickedness."
John as He began his gospel writing said of Jesus coming into the world, John 1:5 "The light shined in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not... He came to be with His own, and His own would not receive Him."
Even though Jesus came to bring light to a lost world, at this present time the world is yet in darkness. So we see that, although God's eventual plan is to fill the earth with His divine glory and presence, that time has not yet come (nor will it until the great millennial reign of Christ at the very end of this age).
Pastor Don points out the importance of understand this verse: Isaiah 6:3 "And one called to the other and said, Holy, holy, holy is Jehovah of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!"
Isaiah then, cannot be speaking of the divine "shekinah" presence of God when he says, "...the whole earth is full of his glory!" We get a better sense of its meaning by looking at what biblical scholars have said regarding what the seraphims (angelic creatures) were saying. The TSK (Treasury of Scriptural Knowledge) Commentary reads, "His glory is the fullness of the whole earth." Jamieson, Fausset & Brown comments, "The fullness of the whole earth is His glory."
The glory Isaiah is writing of is "the gloriousness of the earth which God created." The whole earth is a reflection of God's glory. We therefore call the earth and its fullness, "GOD'S CREATED GLORY!" All of creation that makes up the earth is God's created glory! Psalms 104:24 "O LORD, how manifold are your works! in wisdom you have made them all: the earth is full of your riches."
Pastor Don reminds us that when God, in all of His glory, created the earth and its fullness, the world, and all who dwell in it, it was glorious (a reflection of the glory of its creator God). God did not put His riches in the earth for evil purposes. Everything was designed with good in mind. Wicked men have captured much of Earth's riches, power and influence - BUT IT ALL BELONGS TO GOD, and was put it for righteous purposes. In this teaching it becomes clear that, to get its purpose in order, God has planned to return it at this time to His people to use it for His righteous cause. BUT TO DO THAT, HE HAS TO ENLARGE THE HEARTS OF HIS PEOPLE, and bring them to a place where they are ready to receive it.
Get ready for much revelation in this teaching!
