August 28, 2014. A Solidarity Rally For Michael Brown, the unarmed, black teen killed by the police in Ferguson, Missouri, and all victims of police brutality, attracted a crowd of 400 plus to Hennepin County Government Center Plaza. There were no uniformed police visible except for two bicycle patrol officers standing on the far corner across the street. The event was organized by the Young People Freedom and Justice Party. Speakers, singers, poets spoke to a serious, angry but very peaceful crowd. There was a rainbow of races, ages, ethnic groups joined together seeking an end to the growing police brutality and killing actions. Some were seasoned peace demonstrators but most were regular people gathered together to seek a solution to a very serious problem.
The depth of feeling was evident in the peoples faces and the home-made signs they carried. The of repeated chant, "No Justice No Peace," was translated on one sign to, "Know Justice, Know Peace."
