A compilation of the work I did on The Legend of Hercules and The Expendables 3 as a FX TD at Worldwide FX; also includes some Personal RnD.
Shot 1 - I was responsible for the animation of the boulders and the fire and smoke coming off it. I was also responsible for the explosion when the hero boulder hit the ground and the
debris that flies off. The huge wall of smoke at the end from the ditch was also my responsibility. Also, the dust from the running CG soldiers was done by me.
Shot 2 - The fires in the elevator shaft were done by me.
Shot 3 - The dust and debris elements from the bullet hits along with the holes in the wall geometry were made by me.
Shot 4 - RnD for the ceramic plates falling when the bullets him them.
Shot 5 - RnD for a smoke bomb explosion which was cut from the final cut of the film.
Shot 6 & Shot 7 - Smoke from the tank barrel after the tank had fired.
Shot 8 - I did the RnD for the river next to the arena. This was used in the first trailer of the film and not used in the RnD final cut.
Shot 9 - I made the cloud and the interaction between the cloud and the plane as the plane passed through it.
Shot 10 & Shot 11 - I was responsible for the dust and debris that comes off the pillar as Hercules pulls the chains off it.
Shot 12 - RnD for a tank exploding after being hit by a missile.
Shot 13 - Ocean FX and FLIP fluids RnD as a learning exercise. The boat animation is fully procedural based on the movement of the ocean surface.
Shot 14 - Pyro FX and shader RnD as a learning exercise. I also wanted to learn more about the volume light in Houdini 13 with this exercise.
Shot 15 - Another FLIP fluids RnD.
Shot 16 - Pyro FX and shader RnD as a learning exercise. I also wanted to learn more about the volume light in Houdini 13 with this exercise.
Shot 17 - An avalanche based on particles to explore the new particle network in Houdini 13.
Shot 18 - A simple volcano to learn more about creating smoke using Pyro FX and lighting and rendering volumes in Houdini.
Shot 19 - Smoke RnD done for The Legend of Hercules. A slowed down version of this was used for the smoke from the ditch shown in Shot 1 of this reel.
