The plan was simple. Paddle the 60mile Caledonian canal, which stretches coast to coast, from Fort William in west to Inverness in the east, through the Great Glen and the largest Lochs in Scotland, in a canoe we built ourselves. This was going to be a homemade adventure.
Armed with a camera I was ready to record the whole escapade. From perilous portages to sea like swells, through the home of a certain reclusive underwater monster, clouds of midges and more types of rain than you could shake a sporran at.
