We know her for her smile. We also know her for her strength.
Take a good look at that drum. Gertrude rolls that drum 1.5 hours over two miles of bumpy, dirt terrain in 90 degree heat. She then fills that drum from a 30-foot deep well using a one gallon bucket on a rope. Once full, she turns around and rolls the then 440 pound drum back home.
That’s how Gertrude gets water for her family, and she does it all with a smile and a laugh.
But, the worst part is that water isn’t even clean.
