The Living Ocean Festival was a whole community biodiversity survey of the near shore marine environment which took place in Perth South Western Australia. Over 1200 people took part in the 35 field and studio events to undertake a biodiversity survey of the near shore marine environment and to create a sparkling exhibition showcasing this amazing biodiversity.
This constellation of discovery events took place out in nature, on the beach, in the dunes, in the studio and schools and at community centres. Each was designed to grow curiosity about the shallow marine environment and to engage, educate and delight children, their families and the wider community.
Together we discovered and documented the plants and animals of our near shore temperate ocean and created a sparkling exhibition showcasing this amazing biodiversity.
The festival was made possible with the support of Lotterywest and was designed and delivered by Angela Rossen as Artist in Residence with the Heritage Collective.
