Friend, Garry, hooked up and landed this tarpon, on light tackle while fishing for seatrout near the Sanibel Bridge and Lighthouse. The gear was a Bass Pro Inshore Extreme rod / 7' Medium Heavy, Penn Spinfisher V 3500 reel , Power Pro 20 lb test braided line, 30 lb fluorocarbon leader with a popping cork rig. Bait was live shrimp on a jig. Garry was able to play the fish and get it to the boat and leadered (caught fish) in about 30 minutes. Used the length of the leader from the cork to the jig to figure length and girth of the tarpon and then used the "tarpon weight calculator" to get an estimated weight. Over 150 pounds! The leader broke right after getting the poon to boat side.
