Asthma is a national problem, affecting 1 in 11 children in the UK and children still die because of it. This film depicts the experiences of South Asian children affected by the condition. By working closely with the families, community members and healthcare professionals, the three year MIA study led by Professor Lakhanpaul, University College London, looked at ways diagnosis can be improved and NHS interventions can be tailored to specific needs, particularly in areas of high cultural and linguistic sensitivity. The report (MIA – NIHR 09/2001/19) is released on 10th September 2014. For the latest findings and recommendations follow @theMIAstudy on twitter.
