This piece was done for ConceptArt's Character of the Week. The brief was to re-imagine Robin Hood, so here's what I developed in seven and a half hours with Photoshop.
The process in this work is as stripped down and as close to a traditional oil medium as I'm used to. I Start with color from the get and layer color on top of color and work in the values as I go (instead of starting with grayscale and adding a color layer set to "overlay" later). I find I can pull the true colors I'm looking for this way and it gives the piece as a whole a more paint-on-canvas feel that it wouldn't have otherwise if layer styles were applied. Just a personal preference to achieve the ascetic I'm going for. At any rate, I hope you enjoy.
