I was engaged to create a self-portrait from the land by Joe LaMantia, a 2014 resident artist. I chose to use a salvaged window from the former farm house and propped it on a rock at the foot of a blue spruce tree, planted for me by my father, one of several trees in a family grove. As I stooped to place a small bouquet of wildflowers on the stone, a snake passed over the stone. I sprinkled the window with brook water and became conscious of time and its passing as I considered my reflection in the glass.
