in March or April of 2022, just after the war in Ukraine began, I had a dream: I was in a black-box theater with no ceiling, lying on the floor; above me, a soldier’s torn-off giant leg was hanging; it was a stage prop, but it felt disturbingly real. researching contemporary wars had altered my own perception of the body, at some point, I realized there was an urge within me to create something about militant corporeality at its ultimate point of disembodiment—the moment when those stripped of a voice can no longer speak.
