This show is dedicated to our dear Helene Dwyer, who passed away on 4/23 after a battle with ALS. She was a longtime, outstanding activist for all animals.
Leslie reports that our Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin still hasn’t co-sponsored the Great Ape Protection Act. The US is the only country in the world that still allows federally funded medical experiments on chimpanzees. Our singing activist, Rick Bogle, discusses CAFOs and the Swine Flu, reading a Homeland Security Daily Wire Report ( homelandsecuritynewswire.com/single.php?id=7867) He reminds us how the UW pushed for a BSL4 facility in the Town of Dunn to replace the aging Plum Island facility. We learn about Kawaoka’s work with the Spanish Flu and how his lab was cited for safety risks. He begins to tell about UW Mary Schneider’s 2008 paper on lead exposure leading to tactile defensiveness in rhesus monkeys, because she claims there are no studies involving children. He runs out of time, like always….there just is NEVER enough time to cover all the unnecessary, wasteful, cruel studies that we pay for.
This is followed by the documentary “Safer Medicines” blip.tv/file/1034103 ( check out their website safermedicines.org) , which highlight 21st century drug testing companies, that use more relevant human based methods instead of misleading, dangerous animal based methods and can develop drugs quicker, cheaper and without side effects.
