What happens when you blend the beauty and depth of poetry with iMovie and student creativity?
In Stephanie Gronholz's Language Arts classroom, you could call it '21st Century Poetry' -- a student-driven, high-level creative video editing project at McAuliffe International School in Northeast Denver.
This video showcases just one of several exciting examples of how teachers are already implementing new Academic Standards in Denver Public Schools.
Denver Public Schools is embracing the Colorado Academic Standards to ensure students are equipped for college and careers in the 21st century.
In our classrooms, our teachers are implementing the standards into creative, real-world learning lessons that help students move beyond memorization and push them to think critically—to support their conclusions with evidence, analyze and critique complex texts across multiple subjects, and to problem solve with effective communication, collaboration and technology skills.
