Wake Up! by Hannah L. Stevens, 2010, stop motion animation, 3:00 minutes
This stop motion animation uses a narrative structure to portray a metamorphosis within the plot. Within the plot, two characters interact – a cartoon character that attempts to wake a sleeping human character struggling from an artist block. A drawing comes to life as the human sleeps. Over 600 drawings were used to create this cartoon segment. In the end, the human character wakes up and the paper is shown blank, just like when the human character was awake. Light, gentle music was used during the cartoon segment to enhance the effect of a dream.
