Some mixed highlights from early Studentville shooting. Content includes the Otago University Clock Tower Race, Extreme-ish Games Eating Competition, Otago Toga Parade and Party all from Feb 2006, Hyde Street Keg Party from April 2006, and with a little of the Uni Games from both Wellington April 2006 and Christchurch April 2007.
Studentville was made with a very low budget and the first year was with a network agreement but no sponsors, so we learned as we went with what worked, and by the second year - we had students running up to us after the first season and sponsors wanting to be involved.
I shot on cameras begged, borrowed, or otherwise until the concept gained traction. As the show went on I became more confident in what content made up a story and went onto shoot and do field direction, especially when the Producer was not in attendance. This was made much easier once we managed to have much better camera kit in the later months and years. Even within the opening titles, the video footage in the titles I shot almost every shot used.
Studentville ran for 2 seasons and I believe a total of around 22-24 episodes from 2006-2007. Sadly I don't have much other footage from my time shooting for the series, but hopefully this will give people a taste of what the shows content was like.
