Partially inspired by Emma Goldman' s text “The tragedy of Woman's Emancipation,” and by my biography, Secret Ritual is the journey of a woman at the edge of schizophrenia, where self-punishment becomes a way of living.
The ritualistic aspect of her experience of pain – which have kept her slave for years – changes together with her surrounding, allowing her to become conscious it and turn the ritual into a life-transforming process.
The piece unfolds using different vocabularies and medias, developing throughout the altered state of being.
Supported by an exceptional soundtrack created by the interaction of voices, double bass, and natural sounds, a final video projection comes in dialogue with the body in space.
Shifting between concrete and abstract world, it explores pedestrian actions, versus choreographic movement material, integrating live and recorded text.
On a surrealistic landscape of rhythms, images, and words, Secret Ritual takes place, in an eternal cycle of transformation.
