Marketplace was a hybrid shopping and community event show that was made for Channel 9 in Dunedin. The presenter/producer James Allred was a blast to work with, and together we co-planned and shot weekly 'out and about' segments for the show. Sometimes these were at events directly connected to people selling on the show, sometimes they were about local markets, events, and sometimes we went and visited the stores and showrooms around Dunedin.
A full example of one of these segments can be found at vimeo.com/106020189
I shot these segments on a variety of cameras over the three or so months the show ran for in late 2005, from a Canon XL1s, Sony PD150, and two different Sony DVCAM DSR models among others. I would return to the studio after filming and then edit up the segment to be inserted between our studio guest sessions. We would usually film those on a Monday morning, before I would edit and compile the show together in the afternoon for broadcast that Monday night.
The background music is 'Sunshine feat. Jess Chambers (Interfearence Remix)' from Rhian Sheehan's wonderful album 'Music for Nature Documentaries' which publisher Loop had provided to our station for free use in 2005.
