Tactile Treatment

We are constantly making judgements of the environment and people around us through what we observe visually and what we think we understand through spoken dialogue.

These judgements inevitably influence who we form relationships with and therefore affect how our communities grow.

Tactile Treatment explores our fluctuating levels of patience, trust and mutual understanding as well as our interpretation of personal boundaries when we meet someone for the first time.

The piece is part of Izzy Parker's body of work 'Intimacy Series' that explores the idea of using jewellery as an emotive communication tool.

The body cape featured in the film consists of 11,570 acupuncture needles that Izzy hand weaved together with strengthened thread to create a textile; the whole process took over 300 hours.
