Blackbird is an experimental short film about departure and the struggle for transcendence. Constructing a world of racial allegory, the film embeds the protagonist in a space that cannot be torn from the past. Embarking on a journey in search of release and spiritual peace, the protagonist attempts to part from the slow strangle that is oppression. This film is a personal reflection as well as a commentary on modern racial environments. Today non-whites find themselves in a strange space between progress and stagnation, between the past and the present. Non-whites must attempt to navigate this space if there is any hope for personal resolution.
