Chaski, Psophonia Dance Company, and Austin Chamber Ensemble collaborate to perform Robert Paterson’s multidisciplinary work The Book of Goddesses with music and modern dance.
Chaski and Psophonia Dance Company are producing a multidisciplinary four-city collaboration to present performances of Grammy® nominated composer Robert Paterson’s chamber work The Book of Goddesses (2010) with live music and modern dance as envisioned by the composer. The synergy of the collaboration stems from The Book of Goddesses by author Kris Waldherr. The performances bring together three musicians, one composer, one choreographer, and nine dancers from across Texas to embark on the journey of divine femininity.
This video shows The Book of Goddesses in Music and Dance as we rehearse and build choreography for the first performance in January. You will hear excerpts of Robert Paterson's music The Book of Goddesses and see footage from rehearsals in Georgetown and Houston, Texas.
This collaboration combines the talents and efforts of artists across Texas who come together in a unique blending of music and dance. The January 25, 2015, performance launches a multi-city series over the next year, with outreach and educational programs presented by the participants. Almost all of the funding goes to paying the dancers, musicians, composer, choreographer, artist, and calligrapher. The remainder goes to advertising, lighting design, travel, and theater rental. The Austin Chamber Ensemble, Chaski, Psophonia, Dr. Matthew McClung, and Robert Paterson look forward to sharing their amazing artistry with a packed audience.
