This summer, the Sheriff's Department teamed up with the San Diego Hall of Champions for a fun and exciting event designed to inspire local at-risk children to strive to be the best they can be.

Sheriff's Juvenile Detectives ran the summer camp program for nearly 100 children. The students were recommended by schools and community service organizations within the jurisdiction of the Sheriff's Department.

The program aims to promote friendships, confidence, leadership and positive life choices. The camp also provides an opportunity for interaction with law enforcement role models so campers know they can turn to deputies for help and support at school or on the streets.
Teenagers interested in exploring a career in law enforcement are welcome to volunteer as Sheriff's Explorers. As a volunteer you will help at patrol stations, do traffic and crowd control during large events or parades and help during crime prevention or community events.
