Kaiser Permanente's Antelope Valley Medical Offices is located in Lancaster and this project represents a joint goal by Kaiser Permanente and the City of Lancaster to become the Alternative Energy Capital of the World. The building incorporates a number of renewable energy features, and is planned to be a net-zero facility, which means no energy consumption and no carbon emissions. The building takes full advantage of the high-desert climate and is Kaiser's first to qualify for the LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. J&M Concrete Contractors/Marne Construction was responsible to build all of the site concrete improvements which includes colored concrete pathways, concrete plazas with diverse etched surfaces, J&M's Intecrete® concrete paving system incorporating a variety of hand-seeded stone aggregates, numerous cast concrete seatwalls, and a terraced concrete amphitheater. Unique to this medical-based building is the outdoor healing garden that integrates features constructed by J&M including a tranquil water feature. Topping off the many amenities at this facility is the collection of large art pieces strategically placed throughout the property.
