Olmsted Plein Air Invitational, April 22-26, 2015, gives an excellent opportunity to observe, purchase and participate in a unique event, showcasing premier artists capturing the beauty of Atlanta's Olmsted Linear Park.
Designed in 1893, Olmsted linear park(s) are a series of associated green spaces designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, of Central Park and Biltmore Estate fame. With established trees and pathways, Olmsted Linear Parks offer a refreshing oasis in an urban setting.
Come see renowned artists exercise their talents through capturing their impressions of these landscape treasures though a process known as Plein Air painting. A phrase coined by the French, En Plein Air is the process of capturing an artist's vision in an open-air environment. It was popularized by Impressionist painters of the late 19th century, and is now seeing a resurgence.
