Did you know that sheep are the most common animal mentioned in Scripture? They grace our presence from Genesis to Revelation.
Sheep are part of the backbone to ancient Israel's agrarian society. Old kings, including King David, come from this background. Prophets, such as Zechariah, and Amos use metaphors and imagery involving sheep.
Awestruck by the over 700 references to sheep and shepherding, I decided to spend time with a shepherdess in Oregon. The Scripture came alive once I spent time with these wooly creatures in their context.
