Re-contextualizing recent incidents in a gaming framework to shed alternate light on the psyche of a hostile generation and the current state of freedom, security and prejudice.
The simulation acts as an entry point for the audience to embody the mindset and tastes of indulgent and suspectedly prejudiced police who carry out their jobs as if they were playing a game. Woven into unjust scenarios, game design elements evoke an engaging sense of playful adventure, creating a lens that renders those scenarios borderline humorous and enjoyable to the audience. The complexion of the viewer experience becomes increasingly unsettling as its gravity shifts between game aesthetics and real empathy.
Justice Renegade makes more tangible the psyche of not only tainted cops, but of an entire living generation that was raised by supporters of prejudiced acts and sentiments at their peak. It re-focuses the true current status of freedom and security and notions about the current direction of prejudice, adjusting misaligned impressions and extending insight. Through the game, viewers enter a psycho-emotional space in which they can feel what it might be like to play the protagonists, and augment any cerebral understanding of the social climate in a personal way.
