De Wilde explores the creative potential of hacking the substrate of our Universe. The quantum vacuum is considered as an unlimited source of energy and defined as the lowest energy state of the Universe, yet full of ‘life’ like the bubbles in glass of champagne. By setting up a historical and innovative lab experiment, organized by the National University of Australia to measure quantum fluctuations, the artist was able to use the quantum vacuum as a source to generate true random numbers. By building custom made software the artist used these numbers in a creative way to generate digital 3d models. This particular model is 3d printed in titanium, plasma polished and mise-au-point by the artist. This is the worlds first quantum encrypted artwork.
