Breaking up is hard to do, especially if your ex is persistent. There's only one thing Lori can do: Say it with flowers. Music: La Boheme, Act 3 "Donde lieta uscì" where Mimi tells Rodolfo they should go their separate ways.
PRODUCTION NOTE: This film is based on a story told to me by a friend who was in and out of the same toxic relationship for years, unable to end it – or to move forward in a healthy way. She finally found a way to tell her boyfriend not to bother coming back. It was an eloquent and bittersweet statement and had the desired effect.
Although many filmmakers use digital technology to create a 'distressed' look, we did it the old fashioned way using old-fashioned technology. The film was shot in black and white on 16mm film on an old hand-cranked Bolex. It was cut by hand on an antique Steenbeck editing machine and only then digitized to add in titles and music. The countdown at the front is also cut in by hand from old film stock.
