This is the second episode of the series ‘We Live Art’, about people whose lives have been changed by Art. This episode features writer and theatre maker Peter Verhelst (Bruges 1962). Verhelst paints landscapes with language and moulds characters from words. With just a few letters he can design labyrinthine worlds which swing the reader back and forth between a strong sensual experience and the analytical, almost abstract observation of it. In order to develop such a non-descriptive style, the writer turned at a young age to the visual arts. His life and his books became entwined with what was displayed in the museums and galleries. Verhelst became art expert, art friend, art lover. In this video, he accompanies you to the depositary of the Antwerp M HKA and talks about the works he loves.
The ‘We Live Art’ series is produced by the ARTtube partners together.
